Renaud Bañuls is one of the very few architects benefiting from hands-on experience on racing multihulls. As foredeck crew on Géant*, the ORMA60 trimaran helmed by Michel Desjoyaux and a trimmer on Frank Cammas highly successful Groupama, Renaud has been able to fully comprehend - in the aggressive environment of multihull racing, the direct implications of design choices.
He gained his experience in multihull design during his 10 year career at VPLP, where he was instrumental in the design of the America’s Cup winner BMW Oracle, the maxi trimaran Banque Populaire V and the high performance racer-cruiser SIG45, a sleek looking fast sailing catamaran that embodies Speed, Innovation and Grace.
His education as an architect enables him to design luxury catamarans that are not only fast but also set new standards in terms of aesthetics. Renaud shows that speed, luxury and elegance are compatible.

Detailed structural engineering analysis - including sophisticated FEA (Finite Element Analysis) ensures the placement of the composite fibers matches the mapped load paths, reducing unnecessary fiber where it is not required.
